ABPF Activities

The overall objective of the ABPF is to create a body of knowledge, a network of producer /market linkages and an ongoing flow of useful information which will accelerate the economic development of Maharashtra’s agricultural sector. The program will be overseen by the Agricultural Marketing Specialist within the PCU, while the roles of ABPF will be put out to contract.

There will be three major contracts:

  • For the overall co-ordination and implementation of the ABPF program;
  • Consultancies around studies like value chains, study business models, needs of ATMA, meat study and other studies
  • In addition there will be a number of Publications and trainings as per the need of the Project

All these components have to be need based and linked to various sub-components of the Component B. Training needs under Component B would be worked out by respective SP and ABPF together and that would become the agenda for Capacity Building for the personnel viz. farmers, Officials, PG members and other stakeholders, for ABPF.

 A. Consultancies for the overall co-ordination and implementation of the program:
 
i) Agribusiness and Marketing Consultancy at HeadQuarter Level
ii) Agribusiness and Marketing Consultancy at Zonal Level
iii) Preparation ofagri enterprises proposals for Bank/ Financial Institution Loan sanction & leverage of government schemes
iv) Other misc. consultancy requirements and to facilitate Maharashtra agri-businesses and producer organizations to access government grants.
v) Provide post investment incubation services for FCSC/ FPC/BDS which are sanctioned under MACP
vi) Review of the FCSC business plans which are prepared by SP-FCSC
vii) Organize state level buyer seller meet & divisional conferences
viii) Facilitate in preparation of ToR for studies, Publication as per the need of the project
 
 
B. Consultancies for studies:

  1. Agri Business Needs of ATMA : 1) Assessing agri business needs in the all districts 2) Study of the various agribusiness models 3) Assessment of the 33 district ATMAs 4) Refining of market strategy supplement (MSS) to strengthen strategic research & extension plan (SREP)
  2. Commodity Profiles & Value Chain study for selected commodities :
  1. commodity profiles : 25 Commodities selected for preparation of commodity profile ( Pomegranate, Banana, Cashewnut, Orange, Mosambi, Grapes, Mango, Guava, Tomato, Onion, Paddy, Maize, Jowar, Bajara, Tur, Gram, Cotton, Turmeric, Soybean, Groundnut, Sunflower, Sheep & Goat, Flowers)
  2. Value chain Analysis: Value chain analysis of 10 commodities done out of 25 commodities selected from the commodity profiling.
  1. Geographical Indications Registration : 1) Study of 33 district for identified commodities for G.I. registration 2) Shortlisting commodities 3) Application of 10 commodities for G.I. registration ( AjaraGhansal Rice, Kolhpaur Masala, koregaonWaghyaGhevada, Ratnagiri-SindhudurgKokam, MulashiAmbemohar Rice, MangalwedhaJowar,SolapurChutaney, Waigaon Turmeric, Bhiwapuri red chilli&NavapurDeshiTurDall) out of these applied 8 commodities has registered with G.I. these are AjaraGhansal Rice, KoregaonWaghyaGhevada, Ratnagiri-SindhudurgKokam, MulashiAmbemohar Rice, MangalwedhaJowar, Waigaon Turmeric, Bhiwapuri red chilli&NavapurDeshiTurDall.
  2. Meat Study In Pune City : 1) Meat Market Assessment 2) Market Projections 3) Feasibility of modern slaughter house in Pune metropolitan region 4) Inputs for the project design 5) Project implementation plan 6) Marketing of the Facility to stakeholders
