- The Maharashtra Agricultural Competitiveness Project (MACP) has the following three major components:

a.   COMPONENT A :  INTENSIFICATION AND DIVERSIFICATION OF MARKET LED PRODUCTION  This will cover  the following activities.

i.    Mainstreaming of Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), with special focus on marketing extension.

ii.   Preparation and Implementation of Marketing Strategy Supplements (MSSs) and Strategic Research and Extension Plan (SREP).

iii.  Whole range of activities like training, field visits, field demonstrations for farmers with an objective of capacity building of farmers and the extension machinery.

iv.  Providing Market Information and Market Intelligence to farmers through mobile phones and websites.

b.   COMPONENT B : IMPROVING FARMER ACCESS TO MARKETS

 This Component mainly includes the following.

  i.  Promoting Alternative Marketing Channels by setting up Farmer Common Service Centres, undertaking Warehouse receipt development, strengthening Rural Haats and introducing e-trading platform.

ii.   Improving existing infrastructure and creating new infrastructure in the APMC and livestock market.

                  c. COMPONENT C: PROJECT MANAGEMENT.

 i.   Project Co-ordination Unit : Project Co-ordination Unit (PCU) headed by the Project Director is set up at Pune with the team of following officers :- Chief Financial Controller, M&E Specialist, MIS Specialist, Social Dev. Specialist, Environment Specialist,  Agri Business Specialist, Procurement Specialist, Financial Specialist (Audit),with the support of other personnel.

ii.   Project Implementation Unit : Project Implementation Unit PIU (Agril) and PIU (AHD) in the office of Commissioner of the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry respectively has been set up with the necessary personnel. Similarly PIU-MSAMB with the supporting officers and staff dealing with Procurement, Accounts, finance, Administration has been set up.
